Los Luceros Historic Site will improve preservation, educational reach with Santa Fe Community Foundation grant

Alcalde, NM - Los Luceros Historic Site (LLHS) has received a $15,000 Arts and Culture Grant from the Santa Fe Community Foundation (SFCF). The grant will support the Site’s mission to preserve and interpret its history and culture, while improving its capacity to reach surrounding communities.
“I am honored and excited that Los Luceros Historic Site received this grant from the Santa Fe Community Foundation,” said Carly Stewart, regional manager of LLHS. “Los Luceros has an incredibly layered history that extends hundreds of years into the past, and we’re looking forward to building on our interpretation of that history through this grant.”
LLHS has deep roots in surrounding communities like Alcalde and Española, and with the support of the SFCF grant, the staff hopes to develop exhibits and programming that speak directly to those communities and help tell their stories.
The Santa Fe Community Foundation’s mission is to inspire philanthropic generosity, strengthen nonprofits, and foster positive change to build a more vibrant, healthy, and resilient region. The organization envisions a thriving northern New Mexico, where all people can find opportunity, build connections, and contribute to the wellbeing of their communities.
About New Mexico Historic Sites
New Mexico Historic Sites is a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs, under the leadership of the Board of Regents for the Museum of New Mexico. Programs and exhibits are generously supported by the Museum of New Mexico Foundation and its donors. The New Mexico Historic Sites system was established in 1931 by an Act for the Preservation of the Scientific Resources of New Mexico. The eight Historic Sites include Coronado, Fort Selden, Fort Stanton, Bosque Redondo Memorial at Fort Sumner Historic Site, Jemez, Lincoln, and Los Luceros.
