New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science reopens on Mondays as of February 7, 2022

Albuquerque, NM – The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science is pleased to announce that it will be open on Mondays beginning February 7, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The museum is closed to the public on Tuesdays.

Visitors to the Old Town-area museum can check out two special exhibitions: Dogs! A Science Tail, a highly interactive, family-friendly dive into the remarkably successful relationship between man and canine, and Mars: Science and Culture, presenting unforgettable images taken by exploration spacecraft during the development of our understanding about the Red Planet.  

To accompany Dogs! A Science Tail exhibit, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science will feature the highly-anticipated documentary film Superpower Dogs, narrated by Chris Evans, taking audiences on an immersive adventure to experience the life-saving superpowers and extraordinary bravery of some of the world’s most amazing dogs. Superpower Dogs in IMAX® 3D will open at the Verus Research DynaTheater on February 5 to coincide with the opening of the exhibit. Operated and supported by the New Mexico Museum of Natural History Foundation, the DynaTheater will screen Into America’s Wild at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.; Dinosaurs of Antartica at noon and 2 p.m. and Superpower Dogs at 4 p.m. Learn more about the films at naturalhistoryfoundation.org/dynatheater. 

The museum’s recently-renovated planetarium is offering a new schedule of shows as follows: 11 a.m. – Earth, Moon & Sun; 12 p.m. – Incoming!; 2 p.m. – Enchanted Skies; 3 p.m. – Life: A Cosmic Story; 4 p.m. – Perfect Little Planet. The cost of general museum admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors 60 and older, $7 for youth ages 13-17, and $5 for children ages 3-12, while admission is free for children 2 and younger. New Mexico foster families are always admitted free.   

Tickets for the DynaTheater or planetarium only are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, $4 for children, and free for ages 2 and younger. Combination tickets are also available for purchase at the museum. Foundation members receive a 30% discount on DynaTheater and planetarium tickets, which must be purchased at the admissions desk.  

For visitors who are only seeing the museum’s exhibits, purchasing tickets online at nmnaturalhistory.org is strongly encouraged to facilitate an efficient entrance into the museum and minimize face-to-face contact. All visitors ages 2 and older are required to wear face coverings while inside the museum.    

A staff member will open the doors 5 minutes before each show. Please have your tickets ready. The doors close when the film begins. There is NO late seating.
