MIAC Announces 17th Annual Native Treasures Art Market

Celebrate this year’s Museum of Indian Arts & Culture (MIAC) Living Treasure artist Kathleen Wall (Jemez Pueblo) and support dozens of Native artists at the 17th annual Native Treasures Art Market, a virtual event taking place May 26 to June 2.  

Since the inception of Native Treasures in 2005, Native artists have generated more than $5 million in sales that have helped sustain Indigenous communities and cultures throughout New Mexico and the Southwest. MIAC, in turn, has received nearly $1 million in financial support for exhibition development and educational programming. 

"The Museum of Indian Arts & Culture is thrilled to be organizing the 17th annual Native Treasures Art Market,” said Della Warrior (Otoe-Missouria), Director of MIAC. "Given the difficulties we have all faced this year, it is more important than ever to support Native artists. We look forward to further building our Native Treasures community through the evolving virtual program.” 

This year’s Native Treasures event will consist of an online art market and silent auction featuring exquisite handmade items created by more than 50 Native American artists from the Southwest. Items available for bidding and purchase will include hand-made jewelry, pottery, sculptures, paintings, fashion, carvings, basketry, beadwork, textiles, and more. Artists keep all profits from their sales through the virtual market. Proceeds from the silent auction will support the Museum’s exciting upcoming exhibitions and educational programming for children and adults.
