Da VinciThe Genius in Me: Solutions for a Better Tomorrow

(Albuquerque, New Mexico) – New Mexico school students have a rare opportunity to explore their own genius by creating a video showcasing the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) into their education.
The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science (NMMNHS) is hosting a video contest entitled, Da Vinci—The Genius in Me: Solutions for a Better Tomorrow for students in grades 4-12. Prizes will be awarded for different age categories (grades 4-5, grades 6-8 and grades 9-12).
“We’re looking for individuals, small groups and classrooms to show us their creativity, innovation, and genius of New Mexico STEAM students,” said Margie Marino, director of the NMMNHS. “Thousands of New Mexico students are currently being given the opportunity to experience the Da Vinci—The Genius exhibition – and are becoming aware, perhaps for the first time, of the depth and breadth of da Vinci’s genius in so many diverse disciplines. This video contest will give the students a vehicle to unleash their own genius and creativity while learning storytelling and elements of video production.”
An impressive panel of judges has been assembled to judge competition with representatives from four colleges, Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and INTEL, among others. Students will produce a two to four-minute video offering up solutions for a better tomorrow utilizing principles taught through a STEAM education.
