Museum Reopens 7 Days a Week for the Year of STEAM
(Albuquerque, NM) – New Mexico’s most popular museum, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science (NMMNHS) will be open on Tuesdays effective June 24, 2017. When this change takes effect, the Museum will be once again be open seven days a week from 9AM-5PM.
Special exhibits, and programs will feature science, music and art, as the Museum stresses the importance of creativity in developing new scientific ideas.
“We are thrilled to be able to bring the many resources of the Museum of Natural History & Science to New Mexicans and our visitors seven days a week,” said Margie Marino, NMMNHS executive director. “This underscores the support and commitment we are getting from the State to continue this Museum’s vital role in fostering STEAM education – science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.”
The first Tuesday the Museum is open under the new schedule happens the same week as the Museum debuts the Wild Music Sounds & Songs of Life. This a highly interactive traveling exhibition explores evidence for the biological origins of music. Through environmental soundscapes, exhibits, and listening experiences, visitors are invited to explore nature’s score and expand their understanding of what makes music. The exhibition opens on June 24, 2017 and runs through January 7, 2018.
Reopening on Tuesdays provides an extra day to see two extraordinary exhibitions: Owls in the Land of Enchantment; and, the Wonderful World of Opals, plus more time to enjoy the summer’s new DynaTheatre films or to explore the universe in the Planetarium.
